Silk Classification Series Two Satin & plain woven silk

Silk has many excellent properties, such as good hygroscopicity, skin-friendliness, and soft and luxurious luster.

Having developed silk culture and products for more than 6,000 years, artisans and technicians in the silk industry have produced many silk fabrics of different styles widely used in clothing and home textiles.

Fabric Classification: According to the structure, appearance, and style of the fabric, silk fabrics are usually divided into 14 categories, namely: spun, Silk, satin, Silk, gauze, Luo, Silk, damask, crepe, ge, Silk, velvet, woolen and brocade.

Satin

Introduction: Satin fabric is a silk fabric woven with a satin weave. It can be divided into warp satin and weft satin.

It is a high-end garment fabric. Usually, the warp threads are weakly twisted, and the weft threads are not twisted.

The satin surface feels smooth and soft, has a dense texture and bright luster, and is luxurious, rich, and elastic. The surface of the fabric often has traditional Chinese ethnic patterns.

The main types are brocade, plain satin, floral satin, and crepe satin.

Uses: Uses vary from variety to variety. The lighter ones can be used as shirts, skirts, scarves, drama costumes, and theatrical costumes; the heavier ones can be used for high-end dresses, suits, and home furnishings (silk four-piece sets are usually satin).
